Movie Excitement: Where The Wild Things Are (With Video)
By Saintless. Filed in Books, entertainment |The book Where The Wild Things Are is one of my favorite books from childhood. When I heard it was being turned into a movie, I was a bit hesitant to get excited, though. Until I saw this:

Forest Whitaker
I’m positively giddy about this, and I can’t wait until it comes out in October. Though, I must say the wait until then is a bummer.
Forest Whitaker (right) will be the voice of Wild Thing. If the trailer is any indication, they couldn’t have picked a better person for that part! It gave me chills when I heard him first speak in the trailer.
I am very much looking forward to seeing this with my boys. Rumors on the internet say that some of the movie was reshot because it was too dark and scary for young children, and that even the final version will be. Then again – wasn’t that also said of the book when it came out? I’m sure that I’ll find out much more about the movie in the next 7 months, so that I can make a final decision on whether my 9 and 11 year old boys can see it, but so far I’m not seeing anything that makes me hesitate.

I hadn’t heard this so I went through the same “ugh” hesitance to “hey, that could be cool” in the space of your blog post! Pretty cool!

Got chills too. My sons will be 7 and 8 in October. We’re there. I hope they include the dark and scary version as a bonus feature in the DVD.
